Love Beyond the Books: How Aden and Charlotte found their forever after
As devoted admirers of love and all its enchanting moments, we've had the joy of witnessing countless breathtaking romances. Yet, every so often, a couple crosses our path whose love radiates a unique magic, leaving an indelible mark on everyone they meet. It was an absolute honor to celebrate the engagement of Aden and Charlotte, and now, we’re thrilled to share the spellbinding story of their love and proposal:
How did you and Charlotte meet, what defining moments in your relationship made you realize that they were the one? Would love to hear both sides of the story!
We met at university in 2015 and a close friendship developed from there. From sharing study notes, to hanging out in between our lectures, we became close friends that eventually grew into something more. We have shared so much of our lives up until getting engaged, including a lengthy period of working together which eventually led us to becoming partners and opening our business in 2019. Partners in business, life and love, we are so excited for this next chapter and what lies beyond.
What traits do you both appreciate most in each other?
Aden: I appreciate how organized, fun-loving and driven Charlotte is. She grounds me, makes me laugh and gives me time and space to be who I am without judgment or resentment. I’ve known for a long time but one day when I was cleaning up at work, I just thought to myself, “what am I waiting for?” and I messaged her sister right away to help me choose a ring.
Charlotte: I appreciate the balance that Aden brings to my life. He is never in a rush and finds the “scenic route” in life. I love his desire to learn and better himself. I am always learning new things about him - even after almost 10 years! He has an addictive personality and manages to make anyone around him feel equally seen and important. It’s a little embarrassing how long I knew I wanted to marry Aden. Even from the early days at uni, I felt like I had known him my whole life and I couldn’t imagine my life in any other way. I can’t define a particular moment but even now he’s still the only person I want to create a lifetime of memories with.
We've heard all about it in store but tell us again about your romantic proposal that Aden so thoughtfully planned!
Aden: I knew I wanted to propose over the Christmas period as we had friends and family in Adelaide who otherwise wouldn't have been able to share this special moment of our lives with us. I had planned to take us to one of our favorite spots for coffee and a sandwich before walking into the Adelaide Botanic Gardens to eat. I then walked us to a private spot before getting down on one knee to ask the question. I wasn’t sure how I was going to bring it up! I sat there having eaten my breakfast very quickly and couldn’t stop thinking, when she finishes her breakfast, I’m going to have to somehow work this into the conversation and I need to get rid of the rubbish in my hand, but I couldn’t see a bin anywhere! Fortunately, Charlotte spotted another couple having breakfast at what looked like a surprise engagement and mentioned it to me and then I had my chance! I said, “maybe that’s what I should have done” and she turned around to find a ring in my hand.
We've heard all about it in store but tell Aden went into designing your gorgeous engagement ring, tell us about your experience with The Classic Jewellers and any tips you have for couples searching for their engagement rings?
Aden: It was fantastic that I was able to get a ring as a placeholder to have something to propose with knowing that Charlotte would want to design something special and unique for her which the team at The Classic Jewellers was so great at helping us do this.
Charlotte: I was initially incredibly surprised at the proposal, and he had done such a good job at throwing me off the scent that I hadn’t even told my friends or sister what design I wanted for a ring. It was so lovely to have a beautiful place holder ring initially because it still made it feel real, Aden surprised me completely and yet we still got the experience of designing something together afterwards. The design process was so simple and easy, the team at The Classic Jewellers were so welcoming, professional and friendly and the final design is even better than I could have imagined!
Aden: My advice would be if you're not 100% sure on what your partner wants as an engagement ring then having something to propose with and then being able to design something together is really special.
What are you both looking forward to in your new chapter together?
We are most looking forward to enjoying being married for a while before diving into too many other adventures. Working together every day on our business and lives together is so fulfilling and rewarding that we just want to take the time to enjoy this special time with our friends and families.
