As storytellers of love and all its meaningful moments, we’ve had the privilege of witnessing countless engagements and weddings unfold. But every now and then, we meet a couple whose connection feels quietly powerful, shaped by time, shared history, and a certainty that grows stronger with each year.
Celebrating Sorcha and Chris’s engagement and wedding was truly special, and we’re honoured to share the story of a love built on laughter, balance, and more than a decade of choosing each other.
How did you and Chris meet, and what defining moments made you realise they were the one?
We met at a Halloween party back in 2014. We were both in full costume by the way, and we ended up talking for most of the night and then quickly realised there was definitely something there. So, over the next few months, we kind of got to know each other properly. We tried squeezing in catch-ups between uni lectures and casual jobs. And guess what?! Six months later, Chris finally asked me to be his girlfriend… and the rest is history.
What traits do you both appreciate most in each other?
Sorcha: I admire Chris’s ability to always stay positive and laugh at absolutely everything. He sees the humour in every situation and genuinely looks for the best in people, which makes life a lot lighter.
Chris: I love Sorcha’s sense of humour and her motivation. We really balance each other out and she keeps me driven, and I keep things entertaining (or at least try to).
We’ve heard all about it in store, but tell us again about your romantic proposal.
In 2023, Chris and I travelled back to Dublin to visit my extended family. It was the first time he had met everyone and seen where I spent most of my childhood. Well, before the trip, he had secretly asked my sister and my dad which places in Dublin held the most meaning for me and started planning the proposal from there. Despite a few hiccups along the way, mainly caused by me accidentally changing plans and making his life more difficult, he proposed at the top of a hill along one of my favourite coastal walks. The spot was a wishing stone that my family has been visiting for decades, starting with my grandmother when she was a child. Essentially, it’s a place where you walk around it, sit on top, and make a wish. It was there that Chris asked me to marry him, and honestly, it didn’t even feel like a question. We’ve been together since we were 18 and 19, and we knew we’d end up together.
We love how much thought Chris put into designing your gorgeous engagement ring. Tell us about your experience with The Classic Jewellers and any tips for couples searching for their ring.
Although I knew Chris would have great taste when it came to choosing my engagement ring, I may have dropped a few strong hints about the style I loved and the final result was even more perfect than I had imagined. It’s very classic, timeless, and exactly what I hoped for. The team at The Classic Jewellers were so friendly and I've really enjoyed working with them for my custom wedding band as well!
What are you both looking forward to in this new chapter together?
After a whirlwind few months, we’re honestly looking forward to slowing down and enjoying some quiet time together. It’s been really special reflecting on our wedding and reliving all those moments with our closest friends and family, and now we’re just ready for the calm after the excitement.
