Liam and Maddison’s love story began where many teenage memories are made, at their first job at 15. What started as young love grew stronger with every year, every milestone, and every stage of life they experienced together. Nearly a decade later, Liam proposed on the serene shores of the Conflict Islands, marking the beginning of their next chapter together.
For The Classic Jewellers Team, It was an absolute honour to work with Liam to bring Maddison’s dream engagement ring to life, and here, we share the heartwarming journey of young love that blossomed into a decade-long commitment.
Q1. How did you and Liam meet? What defining moments made you realise they were ‘the one’?
Maddison: Liam and I met when we were just 15, working our very first jobs together at KFC. Even though we went to different schools, we spent almost every weekend together catching the train back and forth to see each other until we were old enough to drive. It’s crazy to look back now and realise how far we’ve come. Fast forward nine years, and here we are, planning our wedding for our 10-year anniversary next year, living in our own home, and sharing life with our two beautiful little dachshund furbabies, Sheldon and Leonard. There was never really one big moment that told me he was "the one"; it was all the little things, growing together through every stage of life and still choosing each other every day.
Q2. What do you most admire and appreciate in each other?
Maddison: I admire how hardworking Liam is, he’s reliable, determined, and always puts in 100%, whether it’s work or just day-to-day life. He’s someone I know I can count on no matter what. Liam says he appreciates how outgoing and organised I am. I like making plans, keeping things on track, and bringing a bit of fun and energy into everything we do. We’re pretty different in some ways, but we balance each other out really well.
Q3. We’ve heard a little in-store, but please tell us again about the romantic proposal Liam planned!
Maddison: Liam and I were on a cruise with my family to Papua New Guinea, and honestly, the whole trip was unforgettable. But the most special moment came when we visited the stunning Conflict Islands. We went for a walk along the beach, just the two of us, and that’s when Liam popped the question. It was simple, peaceful, and perfect, just us, the ocean breeze, and a moment we’ll remember forever.
Q4. We loved working with Liam to design Maddy's ring – tell us about your experience with The Classic Jewellers and any advice you'd give to other couples choosing their ring.
Liam: The Classic Jewellers were amazing to work with. They showed me a wide range of rings to explore different styles and helped combine the elements I loved into one design. One of the best parts was getting a CAD (computer-aided design) of the ring before it was made. It was such a helpful way to visualise exactly how it would look and make sure everything felt right. They were friendly, professional, and always happy to answer any questions I had throughout the process. For other couples, I’d definitely recommend taking your time, asking questions, and trusting your gut. It’s such a special piece, and The Classic Jewellers really made the whole experience feel exciting and stress-free.
Q5. What are you most excited for as you step into this new chapter together?
We’re really looking forward to travelling more together, continuing to love and spoil our furbabies, and enjoying life surrounded by our amazing friends and family. We’re also just excited to take each day as it comes, growing, learning, and making the most of the little everyday moments together.
